About PromptUse
A free, independent resource for anyone who wants to get better results from AI.
What Is PromptUse?
PromptUse is a free, browser-based toolkit designed to help people write better prompts for AI language models — including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others.
The core tool takes your raw, unstructured prompt and reorganizes it into five components: Role, Context, Task, Output Format, and Constraints. This structure — known in the AI research community as the RCTOC framework — consistently produces clearer instructions and more accurate, useful responses.
We also publish hands-on guides and maintain a library of tested prompt templates for common use cases across coding, writing, business, and analysis.
Why We Built This
When large language models became widely available, most users treated them like search engines — typing short, vague queries and getting generic answers in return. The missed opportunity was clear: AI models are capable of far more when given the right instructions, but most people have never been taught how to write them.
PromptUse was created to bridge that gap. We wanted a resource that:
- Requires no signup, subscription, or account
- Works entirely in the browser — your prompts never leave your device
- Teaches why a prompt works, not just what to type
- Provides tested templates that can be copied and used immediately
Who Runs PromptUse?
PromptUse is an independent project run by AI enthusiasts and practitioners who use these tools daily. We are not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any AI company. We do not take sponsorships or undisclosed payments from tool vendors.
Our contributors come from a mix of professional backgrounds — software development, technical writing, data analysis, and content strategy. What unites us is hands-on experience: we test every technique we publish with real AI models before writing about it.
How We Verify Our Content
We hold every guide to the same standard we would expect reading someone else's work:
- Hands-on testing: Every prompt example is tested with at least two major AI models (usually Claude and ChatGPT) before publication. If an example does not produce the described result, we revise it.
- Real output only: We never fabricate AI responses. Every before/after comparison uses actual model output.
- Regular updates: AI models change. We revisit our most-read guides when major model updates occur and correct anything that no longer works.
- No AI-generated drafts: Our guides are written by humans. We use AI to generate demonstrations within articles, but the analysis, structure, and recommendations are authored by people.

Privacy First
All formatting, analysis, and scoring happens in your browser using JavaScript. No prompts are sent to any server. We do not collect, store, or analyze any text you enter.
This matters because many users work on sensitive content — proprietary code, business strategy, personal messages. You should be able to experiment without worrying about data collection.
